About
GoKnow®
GoKnow, Inc. is
a new company founded by Elliot Soloway, Ronald Marx, and Joseph Krajcik of
the University of Michigan's Center for Highly
Interactive Computing in Education (Hi-CE), specializing in scientifically-validated
and standards-based curriculum, technology, and professional development for
K-12.
Backed
by over 10 years and $20 million of classroom-based research
funded by organizations such as the National Science Foundation
and the Kellogg Foundation, GoKnow's products are based on
empirical research on how children learn best, and are demonstrated
to improve children's learning abilities as measured by standardized
tests.
GoKnow has existing products in the marketplace that utilize the large installed
base of personal computers in schools today. Further, GoKnow is already looking
ahead toward the tremendous opportunity that wireless and handheld computing
devices provide. To this end, GoKnow has developed a suite of educational software
for use with Palm OS® devices, and the company founders
are recognized leaders in developing products for the handheld and wireless
market.
In
addition, GoKnow is now offering in-depth professional development
seminars focused on successful implementation of handheld
computers in classrooms and schools. These seminars bring
proven results and are based on unparalleled classroom experience.
GoKnow has the technical expertise, curricular background,
and software to help educators use handhelds effectively to
improve teaching and learning.
